Chronic Migraine

Migraine headache is one of the most common complaints in medicine with over 30 million headache sufferers in the United States. The World Health Organization ranks migraine as the 19th most disabling disease.

Migraine is a chronic neurologic disorder that can cause any (or all) of the following:

  • Sensitivity
  • Intense throbbing or pulsing pain in one or both sides of the head to light and/or sound
  • Visual disturbances (flashing lights, zig-zag lines, specs, floaters)
  • Nausea/vomiting

People with migraine tend to have recurring attacks triggered by a number of different factors, including bright or flashing lights, lack of food or sleep, or exposure to light. Migraine in women often relates to changes in hormones and hormonal levels. Anxiety, stress, or relaxation after stress can also be triggers. BOTOX® has recently been approved by the FDA to prevent headaches in adults with Chronic Migraines (15 or more days each month with headache lasting 4 or more hours each day).
